Pros: Horrifyingly accurate and moving portrayal of a couple’s divorce and the way their child becomes a pawn in their struggle. Might make you appreciate your own parents a little bit more. Excellent performances all around: Julianne Moore, Steve Coogan, Alexander Skarsgård, Joanna Vanderham, and Onata Aprile mesh perfectly.
Cons: The tone can be a little one-note, though Skarsgård and Aprile lighten the mood. Happy-ish ending also feels a little false.
The Verdict: Good film, with skilled acting, a nuanced directorial hand, and command of its emotional tenor.
